Adapted from the investigative book about a false victim of the 2015 attacks, this brilliant miniseries in psychological study aims to “understand without excusing”. Laure Calamy impresses with her feverish performance.

Created by a former Veep et Successionthis satirical comedy with lively writing imagines the nightmarish shooting of a Marvel-style film, and tackles the failings of Hollywood. Irresistible.

“The Machine”, season 1 (Disney + )

Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, best friends in life, produce and star in this honest Mexican miniseries about a boxer on the ropes facing the tragedy of his declining notoriety.

“Tulsa King”, season 1 (rediffusion, M6+)

A New York mobster is sent to Tulsa after twenty-five years in prison… Stallone as a crime veteran who must adapt to the modern world and fight bad bikers. Entertaining, but a bit reactive.

“Nightsleeper”, saison 1 (TF1+)

Embarked aboard a night train hijacked by a hacker, this British series remains frantic and entertaining… If not entirely credible. We enjoy the tension, and the jokes about the privatization of rail in the United Kingdom.

“Time”, season 2 (MyCanal)

The daily life of three women in prison. A second season in the form of an intense miniseries, increasingly moving, which delicately reveals its theme, motherhood, and what makes its characters “bad” mothers. The main actresses are admirable.

“The Undercover Agent”, miniseries (Arte.tv)

German version of the British miniseries Informer (2018), on a threat of attack at the Elbphilharmonie. Engaging setup during the first half, then forced twists and turns during the second.

“ConcordIA”, season 1 (France.tv)

In the credits, the members of a small community, where everyone is filmed 24 hours a day, talk about their happiness at finally feeling safe. Except a murder is committed. The opportunity to launch a thriller mixing 1984 et Blow-upquestioning our contradictory desires for security and freedom? Alas no, rather a devitalized thriller whose pitch is never exploited. And we wonder why the inhabitants disappear from the radar during the six forty-minute episodes of the series if they are constantly observed… — M.Bz.
