Télé-Loisirs: Who is Cécile Martin, your character?
Julia Piaton : She is very far from me, even the opposite [elle rit]. This is why it is so pleasant to interpret. It was even enjoyable because she is cold and authoritarian. She is a businesswoman, ready to do anything to save the family business. She is even able to sweep away the love of her life, Edo Zani. This is unthinkable for me! It’s actually the complete opposite of how I operate.

How did you end up in this Italian production?
The production was looking for a French actress, so I had a casting call in . I only had to shoot in French. I was called back to meet the director in Rome, with whom I spoke in Spanish because I don’t know a word of Italian. This saved my casting and I was taken for this role. Two months before filming, I was told that my dialogues would ultimately be in Italian…

How did you learn Italian in such a short time?
I worked with Florence Cadot, a teacher of Italian literature and language. An absolutely wonderful woman who coached me in Paris. I loved speaking this language which is magnificent. On the set in Italy, there were also translators for the actors of different nationalities.

How did the filming take place?
It was a big machine, almost American-style. I filmed for six months in absolutely beautiful locations at Lake Como, Milan and near Rome in an old castle. It was very exciting and pretty awesome.
