“We will not give in to anti-Semitism,” Emmanuel Macron declared this Thursday on BFMTV a few hours before the high-risk France-Israel football match, which he will attend in the evening at the Stade de France, in the Paris suburbs.
“We will not give in to anti-Semitism anywhere and violence, including in the French Republic, will never prevail, and neither will intimidation,” declared the head of state.
Given the security risk surrounding the meeting, an exceptional law enforcement system was put in place. The agents will be positioned around the Stade de France, particularly in transport, and, rarely, even within the Saint-Denis enclosure.
Welcome to this penultimate live from the French football team of the year. It was about time! This match against Israel will necessarily be special, due to the security deployed around the Stade de France, a few days after the clashes in Amsterdam with Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters. But we will try to stay focused on football this evening and, if possible, have a little fun watching this match. Which, we agree, is not a foregone conclusion.
