Joe Locke and Kit Connor revealed some details of the upcoming season 3 of “Heartstopper,” especially regarding the sex scenes, which will be the first in the series.

The tone will definitely be more adult. The “Heartstopper” stars recently opened up about filming their first sex scenes for season 3.

Since the two actors started the series when they were both still teenagers (Kit Connor is 20, and Joe Locke is now 21), the steamier scenes developed slowly and will be taken to the next level in the new episodes .

In an interview with the Sunday Times, British actor Kit Connor said his close relationship with Joe Locke made the more intense moments on screen more manageable.

Intimacy Coordinator

The series also employed a privacy coordinator to make sure everyone felt safe. “We took it little by little,” he said. “In the first season, [le coordinateur d’intimité] was there to make sure we were comfortable holding hands. And now we’re doing sex scenes.”

“We’ve worked a lot with David Thackeray, our intimacy coordinator who’s been working on this since the first season, so we know him well and we’re very comfortable with him and he’s very good at his job,” Kit said Connor at PinkNews.

Filming these more intimate scenes took a long time. “We shot a lot of footage,” Kit Connor said. “Actually, not much made it into the series. But we shot the sex scenes for about seven hours!”

A choreography

“The intimacy coordinator was instrumental in helping us feel comfortable and looking realistic on screen, that was important. It’s like a dance. We planned everything,” he explained. “It was like, ‘OK, now the spoon,’ ‘a kiss,’ and ‘our hand under the blanket’… It was really like that, intense.”

Joe Locke confirmed that “it was a long day” on set, but also that knowing the crews well helped because “most of the members were the same for all three seasons,” he said, so we know each other very well and we feel very comfortable with them, so the embarrassment disappears, in a way.”

Season 3 of “Heartstopper,” the series adapted from the graphic novels by Alice Oseman, which tells the love story between two teenagers and their daily lives with their loved ones and friends, will arrive on October 3 on Netflix.
