A fire outbreak was reported on Tuesday, July 25 around 3:30 p.m., at Argeles-sur-Mer in the Pyrenees-Orientales. According to initial information fromNews Perpignanthe fire would have started in the heart of the Albères massif, near the iconic castle of valmy (which would not be threatened).

At 4:15 p.m., five acres have already been destroyed.

Still according to our information, the first signals remain favorable to control the fire. And for good reason, nearly 100 firefighters were immediately mobilized to the scene, helped by a water bomber helicopter from SDIS 66, two other HBE Condors from civil security, and a dash plane, who made several drops.

However, the fire is not yet contained. A strong tramontane blowing this afternoon on the Catalan Country, with gusts over 80km/h, classifying this day at risk and favoring the progression of the flames.

An additional column of firefighters who have come as reinforcements from neighboring departments has been present in the department since last night.
