Open Business Day gets a spicy twist.

This year, among the steel factories and gin distilleries of the annual Open Business Day, it was the port of Ostend that attracted the most curious eyes. Not because of shipyard activities or fish auction issues, but because of the unique opportunity to get an exclusive look at Hangar d’Amour, the future mega brothel that will give the city a striking new dimension from next year. Yes, you read that right: an erotic multi-million dollar project in a place that you would rather associate with containers and fishing boats than with the red light district.

From neoclassical warehouse to erotic luxury resort

Franky De Coninck, the man behind DC Bouw, expected around 20,000 visitors on Sunday who were looking for a taste of what Ostend will soon have to offer. Hangar d’Amour, located in a neoclassical warehouse on the harbor, is undergoing renovation and is being transformed into a multifunctional erotic complex. Think of offices, a restaurant, a cocktail bar, a microbrewery and – of course – 36 carefully designed rooms where the oldest free trade in the world is given a luxurious home.

Although the doors to the girls’ and boys’ fun rooms remain closed for the time being, visitors were given a virtual tour of the building under construction. “We provide a preview with printed facades and an erotic touch in the peripheral animation,” De Coninck winked. “There will even be massages, but without a happy ending. After all, it is a family outing, and yes, children are also welcome. Although some parents may have to use some creativity to explain what those ‘toys’ in the example room are for.”
