Tanguy Nef (5th in the first round) and Daniel Yule (7th) are in the fight for the podium on Sunday in the Kitzbühel slalom. The Norwegian Timon Haugan dominates the debates ahead of the Frenchman Steven Amiez (at 0”07) and the Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen (at 0”25).
-The two Romands are not at the forefront, but they are well placed to hope to get on the box (second round at 1:30 p.m.). In dazzling form, Tanguy Nef put out a superb race to find himself 0”49 behind leader Timon Haugan. He is 0”24 behind Braathen and third place.
Sixteen hundredths behind the Genevan, Daniel Yule has also proven that he is gaining strength. Author of a sixth place in Wengen last weekend, the Valaisan knows he is capable of doing better. In contact throughout the course, he lost a lot of time on the bottom.
For his part, Ramon Zenhäusern is in 21st place after 42 runs, 1”63 behind the leader. Perhaps he sees the end of the tunnel.
Poor performance
This round went significantly less well for the other Swiss. Loïc Meillard made a big mistake at the top of the course which took him out of his race. He is in 24th place at 1”91. Marc Rochat (27th at 2”04) and Luca Aerni (30th at 2”40) have not found the keys on this track and risk not competing in the second round.
Note that Henrik Kristoffersen, the leader of the slalom World Cup, did not cross the finish line. The Norwegian straddled after the first intermediate time due to a line fault. This is his first elimination in the discipline this winter.
