The Australian Open final is off to a bad start for Alexander Zverev, now trailing one set to zero by world number 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner.
Annoyed during the change of sides at 4–3 in favor of the Italian, the world number 2 was broken just behind before conceding the first set 6–3.
“It’s a pretty surprising little incident for a Grand Slam final. There is a question about Zverev’s rackets. It’s the dad who, obviously, is responsible for fetching the snowshoes. Two would be missing, explained commentator Bertrand Milliard on Eurosport before returning to this sequence at the time of Sinner’s break. It’s still crazy because the racket incident took place during the previous change of ends, at 4–3 for Sinner. Zverev loses his concentration a little, gets annoyed with his father over this story about the number of rackets at the stringer, and in the process, he gets broken. When we say that a Grand Slam final is decided on small details”
