This January 23, Nargès Mohammadi was interviewed at the Senate, from her home in Tehran. Temporarily released from Evin prison for health reasons, the Iranian activist shared the same conditions of detention as Cécile Kohler. With her companion Jacques , the French teacher was arrested in May 2022 in Tehran, she has since been kept in solitary confinement in Evin prison. “The people who managed to come across her, to catch a glimpse of her, all report the same information. She is in an extremely worrying situation, both physically and mentally,” Nargès Mohammadi warned parliamentarians.

Noémie, Cécile Kohler’s sister, heard in the Senate on January 22, also testified about the terrible conditions in which she is detained. “When I myself was incarcerated in the same place, I had occasional access to 20 minutes of free air. You are kept 24 hours a day in a very small isolation cell, with no access to the outside,” says Nargès Mohammadi.

Three French people are currently held hostage in Iran: like Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, Olivier Grondeau has been imprisoned by the Islamic Republic since 2022.
