Netflix increases its prices again… but not (yet) in France

To start the new year, Netflix has found nothing better than to increase its prices! All formulas are included, including – and this is quite surprising – the subscription with advertising. For the moment, is spared, but until when?

« Sometimes we ask our members to pay a little more so we can reinvest to make Netflix even better », Explains the platform on the occasion of the results of its fourth fiscal quarter. In fact, subscription prices will therefore increase in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Argentina.

All subscriptions Netflix are affected by this new increase:

  • Standard with advertising: $7.99 (+$1);
  • Standard : 17,99 $ (+ 2,50 $) ;
  • Premium : 24,99 $ (+2 $).

Adding an Extra member is also $1 more expensive, at $7.99. France is not affected by this wave of increase but we can be fairly certain that this will be the case at some point – Portugal is here the European bridgehead for an expansion to be expected on the old continent!

The Standard formula with advertising, currently €5.99 in France, could increase to €6.99. The Standard offer, at €13.49, would be €16, and Premium would go from €19.99 to €22.99. What to scare subscribers? Probably not: Netflix has demonstrated on several occasions that price increases do not really have an impact on recruitment. Nevertheless, the increase in Standard with advertising is surprising, because until now the streaming service had kept it aside.

Netflix ended 2024 by exceeding 300 million subscribers (301.6 million, exactly), or 19 million additional members. In terms of revenue, the company raked in $10.2 billion, up 16%. Here too, it is the first time that the group has crossed a psychological threshold, that of 10 billion. Net profit stood at 1.8 billion.
