Sentenced on appeal to 20 years of criminal imprisonment by the Gers Assize Court for the murder of France Piechocki, Wednesday December 18, 2024, Abraham Garcia appealed to the Supreme Court against this verdict. The request to the highest court was made at the end of December 2024, just a few days after the end of the trial, by his lawyer Me Edouard Martial.

The counsel of the son of Jean-François Nabarlas, who was sentenced to 28 years of criminal imprisonment for having killed the former nurse at Passage d’Agen on November 10, 2020, will notably submit a conclusion before the Court of Cassation incident “concerning a violation of the principle of adversarial proceedings” during the attorney general’s indictment, on the last day of the trial in Auch. Me Martial is not his first attempt. In the company of Me Victor Casellas (who also defended Abraham Garcia, Editor’s note), he had already used a hearing incident in the Manuel Canovas case, the Gers firefighter sentenced on appeal by the Lot-et-Garonne assize court to 15 years of imprisonment. criminal imprisonment for aggravated rape, violence and harassment, on June 9, 2023. The two lawyers had pointed out procedural irregularities and had filed an appeal before the court of Cassation. On Wednesday January 8, the decision was made and the conviction was annulled. The accused will therefore be retried in the coming months in Cahors, in the Lot.
