Protest against hostage deal reaches Knesset

A demonstration of several hundred people against the agreement to release Israeli hostages held by Hamas reached the Knesset.

Families of slain soldiers spoke outside the legislative building, insisting the deal constitutes a surrender.

“The goal of these Arabs – Hamas and all those around it – is to tarnish the honor of Israel,” says Yoram Eliyahu, a Religious Zionist rabbi whose son Yedidya fell in Gaza.

Behind the families, demonstrators carry coffins representing Israeli soldiers killed in the war with Hamas.

“Bibi wake up, Jewish blood is not cheap!” “, chant the demonstrators, mainly Orthodox teenagers, addressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by his nickname.

Separately, Zvika Mor, the father of hostage Eitan Mor and one of the founders of the Tikva forum, explains that he asked to speak at a meeting of the HaTzionout HaDatit faction earlier in the day, but that he was not authorized to do so.

He urged party leader Bezalel Smotrich to resign from the coalition rather than let the deal go through.

“Dissolve the government, you must not allow this deal to be approved,” Mor said in a video. “This deal will leave my son in Gaza for many more years – I am not ready for that to happen. »
