Following the murder of the 12-year-old girl named Diary Sow, in Malika, on January 1, a peaceful denunciation march was organized yesterday in the streets of this commune in the Keur Massar department.

According to “leSoleil-sn”, which provides the information, the procession began at the house of the deceased and ended in front of the headquarters of the Malika sub-prefecture. The populations, who came en masse, showed their dissatisfaction with this situation. The head of the departmental service of the Ministry of Family and Solidarity in Keur Massar, Ms. Yagg Bâ, denounced this “unworthy” act. Thus, she appeals to parents and urges them to provide more assistance to their children. “It’s time to take charge of our own destiny. We must be the first line of defense for the protection of our children. Vigilance and surveillance must be done with regard to our children, on a daily basis“, she insists.

The sub-prefect of Malika, Abdoul Sy, for his part, welcomed this great mobilization which aims to put an end to violence against children, through a form of peaceful denunciation. For him, everyone has a share of responsibility in this matter, including the State and parents. The populations, he specifies, have an important role to play for the safety of their children, before adding that “for this situation pending before the courts, let’s let it do its job as it should».

The participants in the march encouraged the population to denounce any suspicious person, whose behavior is the antithesis of good morals. This is how they insisted that Justice could severely punish the perpetrators of these barbaric acts. This event was also an emotional moment for some members of Diary Sow’s family, who could not hold back their tears.
