Fire in the center of Visp: more than 20 residents evacuated

Firefighters, emergency services and police intervened last night, around 2:30 a.m., for a building on fire in Visp, at Bahnhofstrasse.

“The intervention forces were able to control the fire around 4:30 a.m. For safety reasons, around twenty people living in the building as well as a few neighbors were evacuated,” the Valais cantonal police communicated this Wednesday.

Two people were taken to hospital for checks, but there were no injuries. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to determine the causes of the fire.
