Australian Open: Gauff dominates Burrage in the 2nd round
World No. 3 Coco Gauff dismissed Briton Jodie Burrage (173rd) in two sets this Wednesday in Melbourne to join double title holder Aryna Sabalenka (1st) in the 3rd round of the Australian Open.
The 20-year-old American, winner of theUS Open in 2023 and semi-finalist in Melbourne in 2024, won 6-3, 7-5 on the court of the Rod Laver Arena, the main venue for the first Grand Slam of the season.
She will face the Canadian in the 3rd round Leylah Fernandez (29ᵉ), who dismissed the Spaniard this Wednesday Cristina Bucsa (110ᵉ) in three sets: 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Thanks to his victory against Burring, Gauff signed their seventh victory in a row and remains undefeated since the start of the season.
