Jupiler Pro League: defender Adryelson loaned to Anderlecht by Lyon

Brazilian defender Adryelson joins Anderlecht on loan, with option to buy, from , the Jupiler Pro League club announced on Wednesday.

Adryelson, 26, was trained at Recife, with whom he made his first team debut in April 2015. Loaned to Emirati club Al Wasl during the 2021-2022 season, he joined Botafogo in July 2022. He signed in January 2024 in Lyon, before returning on loan to Botafogo last September for four months, which allowed him to win the Brazilian championship and the Copa Libertadores, being started in the final. Botafogo and Lyon are both owned by John Textor’s Eagle Group, which also owns RWDM.

Adryelson was called up to the Brazilian national team for the first time last October, but remained on the bench during the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. “So he will definitely bring us additional leadership and experience at the heart of the defence,” said Anderlecht sporting director Olivier Renard in a press release. Adryelson is the second recruit in Anderlecht’s winter transfer window, after Mexican César Huerta. The Mauve et Blanc fell to fifth place in the championship after three defeats in a row.
