Biathlon – Ole Einar Bjoerndalen: “I don’t know what the French secret is” – Sports Infos – Ski

The eye of the expert Ole Einar Bjoerndalen

Having become a consultant for 2, OEB still follows biathlon news with passion. His comments and remarks are always relevant and we enjoy reading these different analyses.

“We have seen a somewhat unexpected start to 2025, with Paula Botet, Maren Kirkeeide and Milena Todorova taking their first career podiums, or in Botet’s case, their first victory.

But since I follow biathlon very closely, I wasn’t surprised. I’ve been following Todorova for a while. I knew she was training very effectively this summer. I could see her finishing in the Top 6, maybe not the Top 3.

As for Botet, I knew his mother Véronique Claudel because we competed at the same time, but not Paula. But the French continue to produce high-level talent.

Maren Kirkeeide is a new star for Norway. She is a very intelligent athlete, who progresses step by step. I knew she had world-class potential, but – to be honest – these two podiums also surprised me,” he explains on the IBU website.

Ole Einar Bjoerndalen also says he is impressed by the results of the French women’s team and obviously he would like to know more about this collective success.

Just like the Norwegians, the French dominate the World Cup and the IBU Cup. They have four, five, six very strong athletes. I don’t know what their secret is, probably the depth of their talent pool.
