Abdellatif Hammouchi receives the Spanish Commissioner General for Intelligence in Rabat – Le7tv.ma

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchireceived this Wednesday in Rabat the General Commissioner for Intelligence of the Kingdom of Spain, Javier Antonio Suzen Persirovisiting Morocco at the head of a high-level security delegation.

According to a press release from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), this visit is of particular importance, because it is the first official international trip of the Spanish Commissioner General since his appointment. This initiative demonstrates the desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Discussions on terrorist risks and joint efforts

During this meeting, Mr. Hammouchi and his Spanish counterpart held in-depth discussions on the assessment of terrorist threats on a global scale, particularly in sensitive areas such as the Sahel and the Sahara. They also highlighted the importance of joint operations already carried out between the two countries to counter terrorism and violent extremism.

The two officials discussed the strategic role that the DGST can play in the success of the 2030 World Cuporganized jointly by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with emphasis on aspects related to criminal intelligence and the prevention of threats to public security.

Spanish cooperation and recognition

The Spanish Commissioner General praised the exceptional level of cooperation with Morocco, represented by the DGST. He particularly emphasized that Spain was able to thwart several terrorist projects thanks to the critical and highly reliable intelligence provided by Moroccan services.

He also expressed his country’s wish to continue to benefit from the support of the DGST in the fight against terrorism, especially in the current global security context, marked by increasingly complex and interconnected challenges. He reiterated the importance of joint operations and coordinated arrests carried out by the security services of the two nations to neutralize extremist networks in Morocco and Spain.
