Cyclist hit in Rennes: the deceased victim was a municipal councilor in Ille-et-Vilaine

Tuesday January 14, shortly before noon, a cyclist was hit by a bus from the Breizh Go regional network, rue de Châteaugiron, in the south-east of Rennes. The victim was treated by emergency services in cardiac arrest and was revived before being transported to Pontchaillou University Hospital. But he died from his injuries.

The cyclist was Régis Georget, municipal councilor in La Mézière, in charge of local shops, also very involved in the local associative world, and union activist. A railway worker, he was involved with the Breton section of the CGT. His comrades immediately paid tribute to him on social networks.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
