The results speak for BVB
Holstein Kiel and Borussia Dortmund meet today at the Holstein Stadium, and history clearly speaks in BVB’s favor. In previous DFB Cup encounters, Dortmund came out on top: in 2011/12 with a 4-0 away victory in the quarter-finals and in 2020/21 with a 5-0 home victory in the semi-finals .

Kiel have also conceded the most penalties against them this season and all four penalties have been converted.

Offensive prospects and rotation strategies
Offensively, Holstein Kiel can count on Phil Harres, who scored four goals in the last two days and thus equaled Shuto Machino as the Storks’ top scorer.
Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, are hoping for Jamie Gittens, who scored his tenth goal of the season in the 2-3 win over Bayer Leverkusen and is the league’s best dribbler this season.
Both teams have already made 40 eleven starting changes this season, indicating a high level of rotation and adaptability. Only Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Bayern Munich rotated more frequently.
