This Tuesday, a large-scale rescue system was deployed in Nîmes to help a 40-year-old worker, seriously injured in a tunnel boring machine, on the Cadereau d’Uzès construction site.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Route d’ and Boulevard Talabot, rue Pierre-Sémard, requiring the rapid intervention of firefighters, a medical team and specialists in dangerous environments. Emergency services were called urgently this Tuesday, January 14 afternoon. The worker, trapped inside a tunnel boring machine, had to be freed as quickly as possible.

On site, the rescue teams deployed a major system, including in particular the Reconnaissance and Intervention Group in Perilous Environments (GRIMP). In total, some 17 firefighters were mobilized to free the victim and ensure his transfer.

After being freed, the worker was taken care of by emergency services, then transported to the Carémeau University Hospital in Nîmes.

This incident is not the first on the Uzès Cadereau construction site. This is in fact the second accident since last December, another worker had already injured his arm on the same site…
