Kate says cancer is in remission, ‘a relief’

It’s the word everyone was waiting for. “Remission”. Kate chose January 14 to announce the good news to the whole world, on the official X account that she shares with her husband, Prince William. “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on my convalescence,” she wrote in a message intended to thank the nursing staff of the hospital in which she carried out her chemotherapy sessions for 6 months all throughout the past year.

In an intimate video published on her social networks on September 9, the Princess of Wales announced that she had completed her treatment for cancer which she had revealed on March 22, 2024. And that she was doing her best to remain “cancer -free” – freed from cancer cells – without saying the word “remission”. This time the message is clear, no more signs of the disease.

“As with anyone who has had cancer, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. The year ahead promises to be a joyful one. I’m really looking forward to it. Thank you all for your unwavering support”, a conclusion signed C, Catherine’s initial, which indicates that these few lines were written personally by the princess. Earlier in the day, she had visited the Royal Marsden, the hospital where she was secretly treated for several months since no one ever saw Kate make any return trip to or from this care facility located in the Chelsea district of London. According to journalists present, the Princess of Wales remarked that it was nice to go through the main entrance, having so often passed through the rear of the building.

In her short missive, Kate does not forget her husband. “My sincere thanks go to everyone who moved forward quietly alongside William and me as we tried to cope,” she says. The Prince of Wales, George, Charlotte and Louis must be feeling so relieved at the start of the year. Almost a year to the day after the nightmare began.
