The science fiction film Dune: Part Twoby Denis Villeneuve, received seven nominations for the 78e BAFTA ceremony, the British film awards which will be awarded on February 16 in London. The Quebec filmmaker is notably in the running for the Best Director Award.
However, it is the papal thriller Conclave, by German director Edward Berger, who is the favorite with a total of 12 nominations. The musical Emilia Perez, by Frenchman Jacques Audiard, follows closely with 11 mentions.
Even if he does well with seven nominations, Dune: Part Two was excluded from the race in the prestigious best film category. The finalists for this award are Anora, by Sean Baker, The Brutalist, de Brady Corbet, A complete stranger, by James Mangold, Conclave, by Edward Berger, and Emilia Perez, by Jacques Audiard.
