Carquefou. An intercultural day in high school

Tuesday was an international and intercultural day at Honoré-d’Estienne-d’Orves high school. It was also Europe Day and World Day for Cultural Diversity. These discoveries should allow high school students to get to know each other better, to learn and appreciate what we owe to other cultures. explains Carmen Pétré, deputy headmaster.

Four exhibitions and thirteen workshops were organized by pupils, teachers and associations, highlighting the cultures of the world and the essential role of intercultural dialogue. Between the “Passeurs d’Europe” project, the presentation workshop of the European Union, the discovery of countries such as Thailand, Algeria, Germany, Romania, Italy, Denmark…, the ceremony tea in Japan, Chinese calligraphy, mobility in Europe, discovery of tango, flamenco or demonstration of judo, exhibitions of great European authors or traditional costumes, the students were spoiled for choice and many of them could in turn consider discovering and traveling the world.

Also on the program, debates and exchanges between speakers and students returning from a one-year break for Etan in South Dakota, three months in Oregon for Astrid or in Hungary for Antoine; it was also a live web link with Louise from Thailand.
