One of the plane’s 289 passengers described the emergency braking as “the most terrifying moment of his life.”
This Sunday, January 5, when he was about to fly from Melbourne airport (Australia), a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner of the company Etihad Airways was forced to abort his takeoff at the last minute due to technical problems. This emergency stop was caused by two tires broken and a smoke released from landing gear. Australian airport security quickly intervened to prevent any fire.

“We were convinced we were going to die”
While none of the 289 passengers on the plane bound for Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) were injured, one of them described this emergency braking at over 200 km/h as “the most terrifying moment [sa] vie” : “We were convinced we were going to die,” he testified on the microphone of the Australian continuous news channel 9News.
The incident caused numerous delays to air traffic. In a press release sent to The Nationalthe UAE airline apologized, recalling that passenger safety is its top priority.
