In the coming months, EA plans to end support for several games. A decision which, unsurprisingly, risks disappointing many players, especially since some of these titles are among the most popular in the community.
EA Games recently confirmed news that saddens many players: 13 of its games will see their servers close in 2025. These announcements, although common in the industry, mark the end of an era for several popular titles. Among them, console classics and mobile games that have gathered loyal communities. A look at the details and what this means for fans.
An expected decision, but still difficult for EA
In the world of video games, server shutdowns are not uncommon. With the industry changing rapidly, publishers often focus on their newest or most popular titles. This leaves little room for older or less active games. Already in 2024, EA had terminated several games. And in 2025, the trend continues with titles that will gradually disappear throughout the year.
The first closures will begin in January. The game of golf Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be the first to leave, with a date set for January 16. A week later, the very popular mobile game The Simpsons: Tapped Out will close its doors on January 24. Next, a wave of seven mobile games will be released on January 29, including titles like Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores et Frontline Commando 2.
In February, it is UFC 3 which will see its servers cut, followed in March by EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 et NCAA 14both scheduled for March 13. Finally, Madden NFL 21one of the flagship games in the Madden series, will close permanently on June 30.
Here is the full list of affected games:
- Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – January 16
- The Simpsons: Tapped Out – January 24
- Blood & Glory: Immortals – January 29
- Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29
- Deer Hunter Classic – January 29
- Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29
- Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29
- Frontline Commando 2 – January 29
- Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29
- UFC 3 – February 17
- EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 – 13 mars
- NCAA 14 – 13 mars
- Madden NFL 21 – June 30
The games that score the most
Among all these titles, some provoke a real wave of emotion among players. The Simpsons: Tapped Outfor example, has captivated a large community thanks to its fun gameplay and references to the famous series. Its closure even prompted fans to launch petitions to try to save the game.
For his part, NCAA 14while exclusively available on PS3 and Xbox 360, remains a must-play for college Football fans. But the recent arrival of EA Sports College Football 25 seems to have made its maintenance less relevant.
EA’s decision is mainly due to economic reasons. When the number of players decreases, server maintenance costs become too high compared to profits. At the same time, the publisher prefers to concentrate its resources on recent projects or projects with high potential.
