Guest of the show C’est vous l’expert on La Gazette du Fennec, Rayan Senhadji, central defender of the Russian club Fakel Voronezh, spoke about his career, his ambitions and his attachment to Algeria.
Born in the Lyon region, the 27-year-old looks back on his origins and his football career:
“I am from the Lyon region in France, my father is from Tizi Ouzou and my mother from Béjaïa. I am 27 years old, I am a central defender in the Russian first division at Fakel Voronezh. I started young in the Lyon region, I went to the hope center in Dijon, then I moved on to the training center in Sochaux. Subsequently, I continued my journey abroad, in Bulgaria, Algeria, Denmark, and now in Russia. »
Concerning its future and its evolution, Senhadji remains determined:
“I have to continue the momentum I’m on now. The Russian championship is tough, if we look at it a little more. I have to protect myself from injuries and stay efficient. I don’t really manage the transfer window information, my agents work on it, but among the two or three clubs interested, there is one which plays a European competition. »
Having played for JS Kabylie, he has mixed memories of the Algerian championship:
“The Algerian championship is interesting. There are players with a lot of quality. The organization is growing. Concerning the infrastructure, to be honest, I have known better. There were places where it was complicated, but there were some very good places too. »
On the national selection, the objective is clear:
“I’m not considering it in a sense, it’s not my priority, although it’s always in the back of my mind. I work for that, because you have to set goals, and selection is a big step, and you have to put it in your sights to get there. Everyone in turn will have the chance to play for the selection, and I continue to push and one day maybe I will get there. »
Finally, he rejects any possibility of playing for a selection other than that of the Fennecs, evoking an approach from the Russian Federation, probably aiming to naturalize him:
“The Russian Federation contacted me and offered me a Russian passport. To be calm in Russia, there is no problem, but to play football, it is no. I only play for Algeria. »
