Nvidia is already the big winner of CES 2025

By inaugurating the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to new technologies, Jensen Huang, the founder of Nvidia, confirms his status as the new king of tech. His company is positioned in all future markets and seems well on its way to continuing to progress.

From GPUs to super artificial intelligence, not to mention self-driving cars and humanoid robots… Nvidia is everywhere.

Long considered a supporting player, with its graphics cards that only interested geeks, Nvidia became in one year the world’s largest capitalization ($3,700 billion), thanks to the incredible growth of artificial intelligence. generative. These are the chips that equip all the tech giants, and they all need more and more power.

At CES 2025, Nvidia finally takes the leading role. The company was chosen to inaugurate the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to new technologies on January 6, 2025, with a major two-hour conference entirely hosted by Jensen Huang, its CEO and founder. The results are dizzying: Nvidia still seems to have plenty of room for improvement.

Jensen Huang welcomed as a rockstar

Who would have imagined such enthusiasm for Nvidia two years ago? At the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, where the CES opening conference was held, tens of thousands of people waited in line for more than two hours to attend the Nvidia conference. In the queue, a surprising comparison came up often: Jensen Huang has become the Taylor Swift of tech. With the exception of Elon Musk, who is famous today for less noble reasons, no other personality from Silicon Valley fascinates as much.

At 6:40 p.m., Jensen Huang arrived on stage. The boss of Nvidia was given the rockstar treatment, with a room worthy of a fiery stadium.

Symbol of his new status, Jensen Huang made jokes about himself, while putting his face forward several times to illustrate artificial intelligences. Jensen Huang notably started his conference with a comment on his emblematic leather jacket, then transformed into Captain America with a Blackwell wafer on a shield, while focusing on a presentation worthy of Tony Stark, with numerous visual effects and robots.

After returning to the history of his company, as if he knew full well that a significant number of his spectators today did not know much about Nvidia, Jensen Huang presented many new features for two hours. The company seems to hold the keys to a very large number of futuristic sectors.

More power, lower prices

To start its big conference, Nvidia chose to talk about what made it successful: graphics cards.

The company unveiled its new 2025 range with the Blackwell architecture, which consists of a new, even more powerful RTX 5090 ($1,999)… and an RTX 5070 now as efficient as an RTX 4090, despite a much lower price and size ($549). In between, we find the RTX 5080 at $999 and the RTX 5070 Ti at $749.

The RTX 5090 impresses with its 21,760 CUDA cores and 32 GB of GDDR7 memory, which offer a phenomenal bandwidth of 1.8 TB/s (with a resulting consumption of 575 W). Nvidia highlights prowess in pixel generation, made possible by artificial intelligence. DLSS 4 is a new upscaling technology from Nvidia capable of generating up to three additional frames between each rendered frame, increasing performance eightfold while improving visual quality.

AI, robots, autonomous vehicles… Nvidia is only just getting started

If Nvidia is undoubtedly the best in the world of graphics cards, it is not in this aspect that Jensen Huang shone the most at CES 2025.

Indeed, after announcing the RTX 50 generation, the boss of Nvidia presented his vision of the future of tech. Jensen Huang believes that a computer revolution is underway, thanks to artificial intelligence capable of learning.

Several technologies have been unveiled by Nvidia, such as NeMo, an evaluation system for creating AI agents. The idea is to allow any company to create digital clones of every job, in order to automate many processes.

Nvidia notably worked on its own optimized version of Meta’s Llama 3.1 model, to allow AI to emerge. Several examples were given, such as agents responsible for customer service, analyzing video streams or manufacturing molecules, each time with specific training. The company also plans to launch a mini-computer capable of running models locally, which it is currently calling the “DIGITS project”.

Secondly, Nvidia believes in “physical” artificial intelligence, in the sense that multimodal models would integrate “bodies”. An AI would then no longer answer a question, but would carry out an action based on a context and a request. Jensen Huang believes that robots could become the largest industry in human history once the technology matures. This is precisely why Nvidia is launching Cosmos, a foundation model designed to train robots to imitate humans. One of the examples given is that of a factory, where intelligent robots could coexist with humans.

Another sector in which Nvidia is present: autonomous vehicles. The list of its partners is impressive, since the company includes all the major players in the sector. Waymo, Tesla, Zoox, Xiaomi… Everyone uses Nvidia hardware. The company announced the launch of a new Hyperion 9 chip responsible for analyzing feeds from cameras, radars and LiDAR, with a self-training system for cars to generate virtual scenarios.

During its time at CES, Nvidia proved one thing: its place as world number 1 is far from stolen. The technologies he has been working on for several decades are set to transform humanity, with for the moment very few competitors capable of standing in his way. It’s hard not to see CES 2025 as Nvidia’s.
