The Los Angeles Chargers have signed veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott, according to multiple media outlets.
Journalist Ian Rapoport from NFL Media said Elliott would join the Chargers’ practice squad. The latter will face the Houston Texans on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (on RDS) in the first elimination round.
The Cowboys waived Elliott’s services last week, giving him the chance to join a playoff-bound team as his career winds down.
Elliott had 74 carries for 226 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 69 yards.
He has appeared on more than 14 plays in a game only once in his last eight games this season.
Elliott played his first seven NFL seasons with the Cowboys and returned to the team this offseason after spending the 2023 campaign with the New England Patriots.
The Chargers saw JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards miss playing time late in the season due to injuries. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal are currently their main reserves.
