Justin Trudeau’s resignation provokes numerous reactions from elected Quebec officials and prime ministers of other provinces.
Their main concern is United States President Donald Trump’s threat of 25% tariffs on Canadian imports.
The Prime Minister of Quebec, François Legault, acknowledged that their opinions have “often diverged”, but he wanted to salute the commitment to Canada shown by Justin Trudeau.
The interim leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec, Marc Tanguay, also thanked the Prime Minister for his many years of public service.
Granbyian and National Communications Chair of the Young Liberals of Canada, Elliot Grondin, had this to say.
For his part, the leader of the Parti Québécois, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, notably criticized his policies on immigration.
According to Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, “Justin Trudeau will have demonstrated Canada’s contempt for the interests and demands of Quebec.”
