Capcom is starting its year strong by announcing that more than 9 million players have embarked on the adventure Resident Evil 4 in December 2024. An impressive figure, for a title which had already sold more than 7 million copies in 1 year. With this new report, Resident Evil 4 ranks as the game with the best launch of the franchise. Enough to reassure Capcom about its desire to offer various remakes.
Although the license has always been able to count on a fairly large player base, this remake will have hit hard. And continues to make its way, since no less than 1 million copies would have been sold between September and December 2024. That is to say twice as much as the previous opus, Villagefor the same period.
For comparison, during their 8th quarter of operation, the previous Resident Evil have never exceeded 500,000 sales. Resident Evil 4 therefore not only marks the best launch of the series, but remains a pillar of action-horror with its mastered remake.
