Jahmyr Gibbs tied a team record with four touchdowns and the Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 Sunday in Detroit to clinch a second straight NL North Division title and secure home field advantage until the Super Bowl.

The Lions (15-2) and the Vikings (14-3) could cross swords again in two weeks.

The Lions will benefit from a well-deserved bye in the first playoff round, while several players are in bad shape. The Vikings will cross swords with the Los Angeles Rams, champions of the West Division, next Monday.

The two teams who faced each other in the last match of the season had a total of 28 victories for the first time. It was only the third time in more than three decades that an association’s top seed was decided in this match.

We could expect a quarterback duel in this game, but Jared Goff and Sam Darnold did not have their best game.

Gibbs took charge for his team. He carried the ball 23 times for 139 yards and set a personal mark with 3 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 5 balls for 31 yards and an additional major.

Goff had two interceptions, with the Vikings scoring with field goals after each turnover. He finished the game with 27 completions on 33 attempts for 231 yards and 1 touchdown.

Darnold completed 18 of 41 passes for 166 yards.
