On this day we celebrate the Holy Epiphany of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ, when He made Himself known to the wise men from the East. It is the adoration of these wise men which constitutes, in the West, the main object of this festival.
The liturgy of the Latin Church, where this day is not a holiday, postpones the celebration of this feast to the nearest Sunday*so that as many of the faithful as possible can commemorate it with dignity.
