It’s been almost two months since the Liège fair left a void on Boulevard d’Avroy. Lovers of croustillons, toffee apples and especially the famous lacquemants will have to wait a year to rediscover their October delights. A year ? Not sure! Indeed, the Désiré de Lille brand, which perpetuates the tradition and especially the original recipe for authentic lacquemants, will open a permanent store in Liège in mid-March. This, after having been present at the Christmas Village.
“Customers have been asking us for two years“, explains Denis Maréchal, great-grandson of the creator of lacquemant, Désiré Smidts. “And as we recently launched frozen lacquemants, made with milk flower and the famous syrup, this will allow us to sell them during the good summer season. ”
The 40 m² store, which will deliver the famous homemade treat for over one hundred and twenty years (the original recipe dates from 1903), but also waffles, will open at number 23 boulevard d’Avroy. Major work has just started to properly accommodate the red and white logo “guarantee of the authenticity of real Lacquemant”.
“Should we repair the damage from the fair at Avroy Park every year?”, asks the #neighborhood committee
