RTL Infos – Floods, strong winds…: Be careful, Luxembourg is still on weather alert this Monday

The Flood Forecast Service and Météolux have raised the “flood” alert in Luxembourg from yellow to since this Sunday.

The days go by and so do the alerts. After being placed on orange “snow-ice” alert during the night from Saturday to Sunday, Luxembourg is now in orange vigilance “floods”, both in the north and in the south of the country, for the day of this Monday.

While the southern half of the country was on orange alert until the afternoon, flood alert was lifted at 10 a.m. this Monday. The “Orange vigilance rating” was exceeded in the evening on the Alzette scales. Although they are now stagnating, the decline is expected.

On the other hand, the alert is well maintained for the northern half, until 2 p.m. (compared to 8 p.m. previously). “In Diekirch sur la Sûre, the “orange vigilance rating” was exceeded in the evening. On certain scales, water levels are still rising slightly, but they are expected to drop again during the day” informs the Water Administration.

Bad weather causes disruptions. The municipality of Ettelbruck announces that the Deich parking lot is closed as a precautionary measure. Anyone who has parked their car there is asked to remove it and, above all, not to park there overnight. The municipality of Mertert also informs that the Rue de la Sûre and the Esplanade de la must be closed to Water cheap. Here too, citizens are asked to remove their cars from the area as quickly as possible.

According to our information, there would also be a closure of traffic on the CR123 between Essingen and Cruchten following a landslide. In Schengen, CR152b is closed due to flooding.

The forecast for the next few days

These alerts are valid from this Sunday 2 p.m. and maintained until Monday 8 p.m. In fact, rain is also forecast for Monday as well as a spectacular rise in temperatures: up to 12°C in the afternoon.

Also pay attention to ventwhich will blow heavily on Monday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with gusts between 70 and 90 km/h, or even 100 km/h locally. Luxembourg is placed on yellow alert.

The snow should then make its return on Tuesday, due to falling temperatures. Météolux is announcing a cold snap from Tuesday and this should last until Friday.
