During her acceptance speech for her title as best actress in a musical or comedy film at the 2025 Golden Globes, Demi Moore was moved to tears. A moment full of emotion.

The evening of the 2025 Golden Globes was full of highlights. One of the most powerful was undoubtedly the appearance on stage of Demi Moore, who won the Golden for best actress in a musical or comedy film.

Demi Moore’s speech left no one indifferent. From the public to Internet users including the person herself, this sequence caused many tears to flow. The 62-year-old American actress told her story, her journey and discussed her doubts, without filter.

At first, the star of “The Substance” expressed all his surprise and pride: “Oh wow, I really didn’t expect that. I’m in shock! I have been doing this job for over 45 years and I am so honored by this award.”

“I thought I would never have this opportunity”

“30 years ago, one of the producers of my films told me that I was a ‘popcorn actress’,” she continues, laughing nervously. She then tells the story of her life as an actress, which will provoke a lot of emotion: “It made me think that this kind of reward was not something I could obtain. I was making films that were doing well and making a lot of money but it couldn’t be recognized. I believed this speech. It followed me through time to the point where I thought it was over a few years ago and that I would never have this opportunity and that I had done what I had to do.

“In this low moment, out of nowhere I received this magical, daring, courageous and absolutely brilliant script called “The Substance”. The universe taught me that we are never done. I feel so indebted to Coralie (Coralie Fargeat, director) for trusting me but also to Margaret (Qualley) for being the other half of me (she plays the role of Sue in the film).

A long wait before this coronation

After thanking her loved ones and the people “who have been with her for the last 30 years”, the actress wanted to end her speech with beautiful words of hope: “I leave you with one thing that taught me this movie. In those moments, when we don’t think we’re intelligent enough, pretty enough, fine enough, successful enough or just not enough at all, a woman told me “know that you’ll never be good enough but you can know your worth.” Today I celebrate this trophy as a symbol of my outfit and the love that keeps me going, for how lucky I am to do something I love and for being reminded that I belong here. THANKS”.

The actress takes revenge after having been ignored by academic awards throughout her career, despite her participation in numerous blockbusters such as “On Equal Arms” (1997) or “Margin Call” (2011). She was even the target of three Razzie Awards (worst performance) in 1997 (for “Striptease” and “The Juror”), 1998 (“On Equal Arms”) and 2004 (“Charlie’s Angels: The Angels Are Unleashed”).
