Rangers defeat Blackhawks 6-2

Quebecer Louis Domingue stopped 25 pucks in his first start of the season to help the New York Rangers defeat the Blackhawks 6-2 on Sunday in Chicago.

Domingue was recalled due to the upper body injury plaguing Igor Shesterkin. His only other game with the Rangers dates back to November 9, 2023, when he made 25 saves in a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.

It was only a third victory in 11 games for the Rangers, currently excluded from the playoff picture.

In victory, Mika Zibanejad collected his 400e career assist in setting up Reilly Smith’s eighth goal of the season. Filip Chytil scored twice. Jonny Brodzinski, Will Borgen and Vincent Trocheck also threaded the needle.
