Fire intervention on St-Victorien Street in Beauport

Quebec firefighters intervened around 1:30 p.m. for a fire in an apartment building on Saint-Victorien Street in the Beauport sector.

The Fire Department sounded two alarms, around thirty firefighters were deployed.

Thick white smoke was visible from the rear of the building on the 2nd floor and 3rd floor.

According to initial findings, there were no injuries; the tenants had all evacuated the building.

According to the Fire Department, the damage is limited to a portion of the common area at the rear and to a dwelling which cannot be reinstated.

A civil security representative was on site to ensure that these occupants were taken care of by the Red Cross.

The fire station’s investigation shows that a smoking article was the cause of the fire.
