The firefighters were indeed called to a vehicle fire on the night of Saturday January 4 to Sunday January 5. “The fire started at 2:45 a.m. Firefighters from the barracks Rizzanese and the gendarmes of the community of brigades (Cob) of Propriano intervened“, noted Sophie Shushicommander of the Sartène gendarmerie company.
Despite the mobilization of firefighters, the two vehicles parked side by side on rue Jean Pandolfi, opposite the bowling alley, were completely charred. According to a resident, one of the two vehicles was a wrecked car that had been parked there for months. “New findings made by the gendarmes took place this Sunday morning at the scene. We are also conducting auditions as we speak.“, explains the commander.
“At this stage, the origin of the disaster is undetermined. An investigation is opened for destruction of the property of others by means dangerous to people, in order to determine whether these are intentional acts, therefore falling under criminal law, and if so to whom to attribute them“, informs Alexandre Apel, deputy public prosecutor of Ajaccio.
The owners of both vehicles have been notified.
