This Sunday, January 5, it is with a rebroadcast that Bring in the accused begins its year 2025 on RMC Découverte. At 9:10 p.m., viewers will be entitled to the 16th episode of season 14 of the show, entitled a man to be killed: the Fleury affair. A particular case, which shook the Orne department in the early 2010s.
Murder of Arnaud Gys: when the victim’s past worries investigators
It was during the summer of 2010 that the gendarmes of L’Aigle learned of the disappearance of Arnaud Gys, 28 years old and father of two children, through his company Mélanie Fleury. So 8 months pregnant, it is in fact the latter who raises the alarm. The day before, he went for a drink in a bar in his village in Orne, but never returned. Without news, Mélanie Fleury is worried and she is right, because very quickly, her car will be discovered in a wood in the region, as well as her lifeless body, the target of a gunshot. From the outset, it was the victim’s tumultuous past that worried the investigators. Having served five years in prison after the robbery of a pharmacy, he seemed to have calmed down after his meeting with Mélanie, whom he met while working in a supermarket. However, his companion, who initially spoke of a perfect companion, will gradually make the picture heavier. A few days after her death, she began to describe her as flighty and violent.
Murder of Arnaud Gys: the culprit is the one who raised the alarm
Problem is, the investigators have no solid lead regarding any sentimental misdeeds by Arnaud Gys. Worse still, it is during his burial that they will make a discovery that is surprising to say the least. The victim’s relatives will be surprised by Mélanie Fleury’s behavior with Damien, 19 years old. Wiretapped, the duo will turn out to be a real couple. In police custody, the young man will confess his crime: yes, it was he who ended the life of Arnaud Gys, whom he imagined was violent towards Mélanie. Furthermore, he claims that she was well aware of this crime. According to the police, she even has the profile to be the instigator. Sent to court, the two accused were both sentenced to 20 years in prison in Alençon in 2012.
