Ontiveros: The only Cádiz CF player to see his market value increase

The market value of Cádiz CF’s squad has plummeted in just four months, falling from third to seventh place in the Segunda División.

Cádiz CF are now focusing on the future after a first half of the season that only dimmed expectations. As the recently relegated team with the highest salary cap in the Segunda División, the yellows started as one of the main favorites for the climb. However, their bid for the top spot gradually lost momentum as the weeks went by. Now, halfway through the campaign, with just 23 points and sitting in 18th position after 21 league matches, their main goal has changed dramatically: to avoid the traumatic drop to the third division of Spanish football.

The overall performance, individual and collective, of the Cádiz team during the first half of the season was disappointing. The squad’s market valuation, as assessed by Transfermarkt, reflects the collapse of a group that began the 2024-25 campaign with the third highest valuation and is now at seventh.

The latest update on player ratings indicates that only one player has managed to do well. Javier Ontiveros is the only one to have seen his value increase, from €1.8 million to €2 million according to the specialized platform which evaluates the market values of players. The winger, who joined Villarreal B last summer, currently leads the yellow team’s attack with nine goals (eight in the league and one in the Copa del Rey). Its remarkable performance has pushed its valuation up.

New arrival Iker Recio also saw a slight increase in his valuation, from €0.1 million to €0.2 million, thanks to his good performance with Primera Federación Group 2 leaders Antequera , before being recruited by Cádiz CF, although he has not yet started in an official match.
