The club will request an urgent precautionary measure from the government as a last resort.

A few hours after FC Barcelona claimed to have submitted all the necessary documentation to the RFEF for the new registrations of its players Dani Olmo and Víctor, the RFEF ruined their plans with a clear refusal. The Federation, in a press release following an inspection of the procedures, announced its decision after holding a meeting of its Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement. The body confirmed that Barça already complies with “the economic control requirements of LaLiga”, although it does not follow up on the Catalan club’s request to reinstate the licenses that were revoked from players after December 31.

“The Monitoring Committee decides not to grant the prior approval or final license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Mr. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr. Pau Víctor Delgado according to the literal interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF, which prevent a player whose license has been canceled from obtaining a license in the same team of the club to which he was previously linked during the same season,” we can read in the press release.

FC Barcelona will appeal to the Higher Sports Council regarding the refusal of registration of Olmo and Pau Víctor

In recognition of this improvement in Barcelona’s finances, however, the Federation has decided to “increase the Cost Limit of the FC Barcelona Sports Team from the indicated date” of January 3. This gesture, however, is far from achieving the main objective of the Barça board. As a result, the board will continue to explore avenues to be able to count on the two players they temporarily lost for not resolving their issues within the time frame stipulated in the RFEF regulations. The next step is to request an urgent precautionary measure from the Higher Sports Council which will allow Hansi Flick to still be able to count on his players.

Both Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor reacted to the news with disappointment, because the club did not respect what was announced to them. Their future at the club is more uncertain than ever, as they could become free to negotiate with any other team or spend the rest of the season without playing another competitive minute.
