– Gas and electricity bills will change in 2025.
While gas and electricity prices have increased in 2024, you are certainly dreading further increases coming for 2025. What changes should we expect? Concerning electricity, the price of certain components of your bill will increase. This is the case of the TICFE, the excise on electricity, which was highly debated in the National Assembly during discussions around the budget. It will increase in February to return to its pre-crisis level, i.e. 32 euros per MWhcompared to 21 euros per MWh today, reports MoneyVox.
The Tariff for the use of public electricity networks (TURPE) will also increase 10% in 2025from the month of February, in order to allow “network managers to carry out their missions under good conditions”said the Energy Regulatory Commission. This increase will have the effect of increasing the price paid by consumers from 2% to 3%. And despite these changes, the bills of more than half of French people will fall. Those who have opted for a regulated rate offer will benefit an overall drop of 14%also from February.

Individuals who have chosen a market offer with evolving prices must, however, expect an increase, even if it is still too early to know its magnitude. The amount of the regulated price for the sale of electricity will be made official in January and deputies and senators will soon have to adopt texts which could change the situationin order to refine the 2025 budget, recalls the website.
On the gas side, the year will start with a further increase in kWh. If the transmission rate could fall mid-year, some parliamentarians are campaigning for an increase in taxes. The initial finance bill provided that VAT at 5.5% on the price of the subscription to electricity or natural gas supply offers be raised.
