Real Madrid won 1-2 in Valencia on Friday in a match for the 12th day of La Liga despite a missed penalty from Jude Bellingham and a goal canceled for offside by Kylian Mbappé. The Madrilenians were even reduced to ten in the 79th while they were trailing 1-0.
Scheduled for November 2, the meeting was postponed because of the deadly floods in the Valencia region. Hugo Duro (27th, 1-0), Luka Modric (85th, 1-1) and Jude Bellingham (90th + 6, 1-2) scored for the Madrilenians where Thibaut Courtois played the entire match while Maximiliano Caufriez did not has not left the Valencia bench. It was only in the 27th minute that the match was resolved. Following a counter, Hugo Duro exploited, on the rebound, a ball pushed back by Thibaut Courtois’ post to send it into the empty goal (1-0).
A coup de sang from Vinicius
In the 55th minute, the Madrilenians received a penalty, for a foul on Kylian Mbappé, which Jude Bellingham missed by shooting against the post. Mbappé thought he would equalize in the 59th minute, but he was flagged offside by the VAR. The second half became complicated for Real Madrid when Vinicius Jr., guilty of a bad gesture against Stole Dimitrievski, was sent off.
Entering the game five minutes earlier, veteran Luka Modric managed to equalize for Real at the end of the match (85th, 1-1). In stoppage time, Jude Bellingham took advantage of an error by the Valencia defense to make it 1-2 (90th + 6). The post again came to the aid of Thibaut Courtois to prevent Valencia from equalizing with a strike from Luis Rioja. In the standings, Real Madrid takes the lead (43 points) in the Spanish championship. Valencia remains stuck in the red zone (19th and penultimate with 12 points).
