Tourists will soon be able to buy a gold coin during their stay in Madagascar. Presented by President Andry Rajoelina, it is a commemorative coin of 50 ariary, issued by Banky foiben’i Madagasikara.
Foreign visitors will soon be able to obtain a gold coin during their visit to Madagascar. This 50 ariary commemorative coin, unveiled in the end of year speech ofAndy Rajoelinawill be produced locally thanks to a gold refinery whose opening will coincide with the 65th anniversary of independence. Initially, these documents were only accessible to Malagasy citizens, upon presentation of a national identity document. To acquire one, they had to register online on the Banky foiben’i Madagasikara (BFM) platform, a procedure put in place last May, reports the media 2424.mg.
The gold coins currently sold by BFM come from Türkiye. The president Andry Rajoelina was committed to developing an infrastructure capable of producing these parts on Malagasy soil before the end of 2024. In his last speech, he affirmed that this gold refinery will be operational this year.
