Reports from multiple sources indicate that Apple is ready to launch an all-new model this year. The aesthetic-focused device is widely referred to as the iPhone 17 Air, and a new leak has revealed information about its price.
As revealed by the Korean site Sisajournal, Apple should offer the iPhone 17 Air at the same price as its previous “Plus” models. Given that the iPhone 16 Plus launched last year at a starting price of $899, we can expect the iPhone 17 Air to be priced similarly.
According to the source’s report, the development of the iPhone 17 Air stems from an attempt to address the failure of sales of the recent “Plus” models of the iPhone, with the new device intended to completely replace the iPhone 17 Plus in Apple’s lineup for the current year. To put things into perspective, iPhone 15 series sales data provided by Omdia saw the iPhone 15 Plus only sell 3.7 million copies. Comparatively, the iPhone 15 Pro Max sold 21.8 million units, the iPhone 15 Pro 16.9 million units, and the iPhone iPhone 15 17.8 million units.
Regardless, Apple hopes that the iPhone 17 Air will manage to achieve comparable sales figures to the other three iPhone models. The lens is assumed to be 6.25mm thick, which is 1.5mm thinner than Apple’s thinnest model, the standard iPhone 16. To be exact, that would make it the thinnest iPhone ever, even thinner than the 6.9mm iPhone 6.
