Accused of the murder of his grandfather in Alençon, the grandson tried by the Assize Court of Orne in January

Three trials will punctuate the first session of the Assize Court of Orne which will be held from Friday 10 to Friday 24 January 2025 inside the Alençon court.

If two cases whose facts took place in Caen will be judged, here in Orne, in appelthe third will be devoted, from Wednesday January 15 to Friday January 17, to a murder committed in Alençon on the night of April 21 to 22, 2021.

In the dock to answer for the latter crime but also intentional violence: the victim’s grandson, young thirty-year-old from Alençon, detained since these events.

“The criminal thesis, obvious”

The 22 avril 2021around 9 a.m., a 74-year-old tenant was, in fact, discovered dead in his apartment on the 4th floor of the residence located on the Place du 103rd Infantry Regiment, in the neighborhood of Montsort in Alençon.

The first police officers to arrive on site were able to enter the apartment without difficulty: the door was closed but not locked.

The body of the septuagenarian, who presented “stab wounds”, was allegedly found in the couch. Traces of blood were visible in this accommodation, according to our information, mess.

“No lead has yet been favored but the criminal theory is obvious,” the Alençon prosecutor immediately declared.

Murder on ascendant

The same day, late in the afternoon, two men, family members of the victim, had been arrested.

The oldest (40 years old) walked free from the police station. According to Amélie Cladière, the public prosecutor of Caen at the time, “this person is herself victim of a fight” which allegedly took place within the apartment.

The grandson of the deceased, then aged 28, had been indicted for “murder of an ascendant” and placed in pre-trial detention after 48 hours of police custody.

The homicide occurred “in a context of strong alcohol impregnation, for everyone,” said the Caen public prosecutor.

The alleged murderer “doesn’t remember much,” the magistrate continued. While in police custody, the suspect reportedly indicated that it was a “fight that went wrong.” »

Fights and alcohol

The day the body of the septuagenarian was discovered, many testimonials from the neighborhood had mentioned the victim’s “alcohol problems” but also a major family dispute.

The arguments and fights were recurrent between the tenant of the apartment and his son, according to several neighbors. The last, “extremely violent” according to a neighbor, took place the day before the body was discovered. that day, the resident heard insults and sounds of struggle in the neighboring apartment: “the gentleman’s landline flew out the window. »

Another had confided having heard “muffled noises” in the night which preceded the arrival of the police in the septuagenarian’s home.

Replenishment in 2023

A reconstruction of the murder took place on Tuesday October 3, 2023, in the apartment, then still under sealof this residence in the Montsort district.

Around ten police officers were deployed at the foot and behind the residence. They were accompanied by investigators from the judicial police and magistrates of Caenthe investigation for “murder of an ascendant” having been entrusted to the Caen Criminal Prosecutor’s Office after the Alençon public prosecutor had withdrawn responsibility.

This month of January 2024, it is now time for the trial.
