The second Wednesday of the month: why?
Once is not customary, the monthly test of the Calvados warning sirens did not not held on the first Wednesday of the month from January 2025, but the secondthis Wednesday January 8, 2025 at 11:45 a.m. Why such a change?
As announced on the Facebook page of the Calvados prefecture, the monthly siren test was reported at national level quite simply because the first Wednesday of January 2025 was a public holidaysince it was the New Year's Day, January 1st.

These monthly tests are used to check the proper functioning of the National Alert Signala signal that exists at the national level and which serves to warn the population of a given area of imminent danger and of the behaviors to adopt to protect themselves, for example in the event of severe bad weather.
