Fnac on the Champs-Élysées closes its doors: a big sale starts today, Friday, January 3rd, until January 12th!

After 25 years of presence on the most famous avenue in the world, Fnac des Champs-Élysées finally lowers the curtain. A symbolic closure that marks the end of an era for Parisians and the many tourists who frequented this cultural temple.

The decision to close this 2 m² store, opened in 800, is above all economic. Located in an area where rents are at peak levels, Fnac des Champs-Élysées has suffered for several years from falling attendance associated with the boom in online commerce and the transformation of the avenue into a luxury tourist destination.

In 2024, the Fnac-Darty group considered it preferable to reorient its activity towards more profitable stores, continuing its digital strategy. “This strategic choice reflects our desire to adapt our network to changes in consumer habits,” said a company spokesperson.

, vinyl, games, electronic devices and even furniture and equipment from the brand… To mark this event, Fnac organizes a large sale until the final closing.

The 75 employees at Fnac des Champs-Élysées were supported in their retraining, with proposals for internal mobility in other brand stores, mainly in Île-de-.

The closure of Fnac illustrates a broader trend on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Like Virgin Megastore, which closed its doors in 2013, Fnac is moving away in favor of luxury boutiques, upscale restaurants and event spaces. Luxury definitely seems to be king here.

Despite this closure, Fnac continues to play a fundamental role in the French cultural scene. With around 160 stores in France and a growing e-commerce site, the brand aims to continue its commitment to culture and affordable home appliances.
