Canadians: Ivan Demidov puts on a show against the 2nd best team in the KHL

Ivan Demidov is currently on a roll in Russia.

The Montreal Canadiens’ first pick in the last draft scored a goal in a fifth straight game during the first period of the match between SKA Saint Petersburg and CSKA Moscow on Friday.

To say Demidov made it big to continue his streak wouldn’t do him justice. The young 19-year-old forward flew across the ice and scored a spectacular goal. He served a cup of coffee to defender Nikita Nesterov at the entrance to the zone before reserving the same fate for goalkeeper Ivan Prosvetov.

Demidov then did it again before the end of the first period. He scored his second goal of the game after hitting the puck in flight at the mouth of the net.

After having eaten his black bread several times this season in terms of playing time, Demidov started this game against the second best team in the KHL on the team’s first line.

Named KHL rookie of the month for December, the Montreal organization’s best prospect is starting his 2025 off on the right foot.
